Vilsack Says Fundraising Shows The Race Against King is Competitive

Christie Vilsack, who faces Rep. Steve King, R-Kiron, for Iowa's new 4^th District announced Friday the 13^th that her campaign raised $520,400 this quarter.

The dollar amount brings her campaign fundraising total to a little more than $2 million.

Vilsack said in a release that the numbers show she is in a competitive race against King.

“I couldn’t be more proud of the support that I’ve received from across the district and the strength of our campaign in each of these 39 counties,” said Christie Vilsack. “Since beginning this campaign, I’ve had the privilege to visit communities, sit at kitchen tables, and talk about the issues in coffee shops and on main streets all across the district. It’s clear from these conversations that people are tired of the way Washington works. That’s why I’m running for Congress. I want to take the values I learned growing up in small town Iowa to Washington and focus on creating layers of economic opportunity and solving problems, not causing them.”

“Our success shows that Iowans are ready for a change and that this will be a competitive race all the way to November,” added Vilsack.

King that his campaign broke a fundraising record for fundraising in a quarter. He said in that he expected the race against Vilsack will make fundraising history for the most money spent on an Iowan congressional race. The filing deadline for the latest quarter is July 15.
