What's Happening in Ames this Weekend?

More Iowa Games, the Shrine Bowl, Wine and more.

The Iowa Games continues for the third weekend from 8 a.m. Friday to 10 p.m. Sunday. Games this weekend include: baseball, dodgeball, cowboy action shoot, figure skating and more.

Iowa Shrine Bowl

The Iowa Shrine Bowl Game is an all-star football game featuring college athletes on the north south line of the state of Iowa begins 7 p.m. Saturday at in Ames. Gates open at 5 p.m. but a parade starts the day in downtown Ames. The parade begins at 9:30 a.m. an autograph session is held at immediately following the parade.

Midsummer Wine Fest

will offer wine, beer, music and food in addition to its flowers and gardens Friday. is from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Friday. Wineries include Ames' own Prairie Moon Winery and more. Tickets range from $15 to $17 before the event and are $20 at the door.

Ames on the Halfshell

Vivace performs 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the for Ames Jaycees' Ames on the Halfshell. Admission is $4 and beverages are $1 to $3. Go to http://www.amesonthehalfshell.com/ for more.

Tune into Main Street

Warm up for the weekend with Tune into Main Street from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Tom Evans Plaza, with a performance by Trouble No More. Balloon artist will make balloons from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Ames Municipal Band Concert

Municipal Band Concert at Durham Bandshell at Bandshell Park is free and lasts from 8 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Pre-concert entertainment starts at 7 p.m. Bring your blanket or a lawn chair.

Bookends on the Bandshell

Friday's bookend concert has been canceled. There is no Bookend concert on Sunday.

Roosevelt Summer Sundays

The summer concert series held on the grounds of the former Roosevelt school at 1000 9th Street, features The Four Mile Creek Band, a blue grass group. The shows begin 7 p.m. on Sundays.
