When Is Santa Claus Coming To Ames?

Yuletide Open House with Santa

When: Friday, Dec. 1
Where: Farm House Museum - 601 Farm House Lane; Ames, IA 50011
What: Experience festive family fun at the Farm House Museum from 1-4 p.m., featuring Victorian yuletide-themed crafts, holiday treats and tours of the historic home adorned in period decoration. Homewood for the Holidays

When: Saturday, Dec. 2
Where: Homewood Golf Course - 401 E. 20th Street; Ames, IA 50010
What: Santa will be making a special visit to the Homewood Clubhouse, where kids can enjoy holiday crafts, photos with Santa and complimentary donuts and juice. This festive event takes place from 9-11 a.m. at Homewood Golf Course. Click here for more info.

Santa Express

Where: Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad - 225 10th Street; Boone, IA 50036
What: Celebrate a beloved family tradition with the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad's Santa Express in nearby Boone. Enjoy a scenic journey from Boone to the North Pole and back, with Santa greeting children and giving out special gifts along the way. The trip includes a passage over the impressive 156-foot-tall Bass Point Creek High Bridge, lasting around one hour and 15 minutes to one hour and 30 minutes. Click here for more info.

Santa’s Wonderland at Bass Pro Shops

Where: Bass Pro Shops Altoona - 1000 Bass Pro Dr. NW; Altoona, IA 50009
