Ankeny Athletic Director Talks Reasons for Leaving

The Ankeny School Board accepted Kevin Biggs resignation Friday.

It seems like Ankeny School District's Athletics & Activities Director just arrived but he's already ready to go.

The Ankeny School Board accepted the resignation of Kevin Biggs during a special meeting Friday.

Biggs, who has been with the district since 2011, told the Des Moines Register that he resigned so he could spend more time with his family.

Biggs, a California native has a wife and three children, ages 1 to 7.

“There were stretches where I didn’t see my kids for three or four days,” Biggs told the Register. “That wasn’t fair to my kids and my wife.”

The board now plans to employ a second activities director to replace Biggs.

Tom Kinseth, was hired as the athletics and activities director for Centennial High School in March.

Kinseth comes from Fort Dodge and had previously told the district there that he planned to retire at the end of the year.
