Ankeny Mother Warns of Thief in the Area

A man burglarized an Ankeny garage in broad daylight. Police say they've also had a number of vehicle thefts.

An Ankeny woman is warning residents to keep their garages closed and their doors locked after someone stole her husband's golf clubs from her attached garage in broad daylight.

Sarah Sexton was home alone with her two children about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday when her neighbor came to her door to say she watched a man run down the street with a set of golf clubs, hop in a black Chevy, and drive off.

Sexton who was inside her home during the theft, didn't hear the man enter and said she wouldn't have known it happened if it wasn't for her neighbor. Her car was parked in the open garage and her doors were unlocked.
