Ankeny High School senior Rhiannon Barth has been named a recipient of the Award for Aspirations in Computing by the National Center for Women and Information Technology (NCWIT). Â
The Ankeny High School senior was one of only nine Iowa students to be selected for the honor, and the only student from the Des Moines Metro Area.

The NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing honors young women at the high-school level for their computing-related achievements and interests. Awardees are selected for their computing and IT aptitude, leadership ability, academic history, and plans for post-secondary education. The NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing offers both a national and local "affiliate" competitions to generate support and visibility for women's participation in communities nationwide.
Rhiannon says she is an artist at heart, but the kind of artist that uses the latest technology. She's passionate about digital art, so her mom and computer science teacher suggested that she become a part of the future for the technology and software that she loves.
