Ankeny Show Choir's Visual Adrenaline Wins Third in National Championship

How did Visual Adrenaline perform at its last show choir championship?

Visual Adrenaline, Ankeny's varsity show choir, finished third in the FAME National Show Choir Championship held in Chicago recently.

The choir also won Best Male Sound and Second Runner-Up, two honors the choir had never won before.

The choir competed with choirs from 14 other states.

"Words cannot express how proud we are of our students and staff who participate in show choir," said Dr. Jeff Hawkins, Ankeny High School principal.  "From the singers, to the band, to the support crew, teachers and parents, this has been a monumental team effort, and one that will live in our memories for a long, long time.  On behalf of Ankeny High School, congratulations, and thank you to everyone involved."

Visual Adrenaline relied on a combination of strong vocals, the challenging choreography they have become known for, and a creative musical arrangement to bring down the house.  In top form, their performance truly lived up to their name, Visual Adrenaline.

The excellent performance and high placing is a fitting end to the season, as the name Visual Adrenaline will be retired and next year both Ankeny high schools will select new varsity show choir names for the future.

"I’m honored to have had the privilege of directing Visual Adrenaline these past five years," said director Lester Miller, III.  "To compete in the national finals, let alone place third and receive the Best Male Sound award is a great way to honor the legacy of Visual Adrenaline."
