Assigned Seats For Football? Ankeny Stadium's New Bleachers Have Designated Seating Areas

New west-side home bleachers at Ankeny Stadium are ready for tonight's game -- with assigned seat sections.

ANKENY, IA -- Students, please take a seat. If you're looking for one in the new home-side bleachers at Ankeny Stadium, you may need a map to find your spot as there are preferred seating areas for various grade levels. The new bleachers on the stadium's west side will open tonight (Friday, Oct. 6) with Ankeny Centennial's home football game.

And here's what district officials want you to know:

  • Ninth- through 12th-graders, you proceed north of the 50-yard line and can claim the section roughly from the 40 to 30 yard lines, top to bottom.
  • Eighth-graders are one section to the west, but only on the top half.
  • At the far south end -- lower level only -- is the designated sixth- and seventh-grade section.

Hmm. No elementary seating? Students through fifth grade are asked to stay with parents, who have the privilege of sitting in any other part of the bleachers -- except for the far north end.

The band will take that, all rows, top to bottom. And the reserved band overflow area will be one section over, below the eighth-grade section.

Confused? Thankfully the district has labeled the sections on a photo you'll find at the top of this story or on the district website.
