Jim Ford, Lori Lovstad Elected To Ankeny School Board
Longtime Ankeny school board member George Tracy loses his re-election bid and Ankeny welcomes Lori Lovstad and Jim Ford.

ANKENY, IA -- The Ankeny School Board will welcome two new members Monday, Sept. 18, when they are sworn in at an organizational meeting at 5:15 p.m., following the final meeting of the 2016-17 school board. Jim Ford and Lori Lovstad were elected by voters on Sept. 12. Incumbent Aaron Johnson also was re-elected, while longtime member George Tracy lost a re-election bid and leaves the board.
Tracy, who had served on the board since 2006, also serves on the Ankeny Foundation Board and the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union Board and was elected to the Athletic Officials Hall Of Fame in both basketball and softball, according to the district website.

The current board will convene at 5 p.m. and finish out its remaining business. During the meeting, board secretary Jackie Black will share canvased school board election results.

Following the swearing in of the new board members at the second meeting, the board will select its president and vice president for the year. Black will administer the oaths of office.
Also in the district, two employees were elected to school boards in neighboring communities. “We'd also like to congratulate two Ankeny staff members elected to other school boards. Steven Hopper in Johnston and Kyrstin Delagardelle Shelley in Des Moines,” the district announcement said.

The school board meets in the Ankeny Community School District Board room located at 306 S.W. School St.
