The 11,500 foot facility will bring three new family practice doctors to town and will be Ankeny's third Mercy Clinic. Ankeny already has the Mercy North facility at 800 East First St., which offers several specialities and the Mercy Prairie Trail Family Medicine Clinic, a family practice office, opened in 2011.

JSP Properties Inc., will own the building. Mercy plans to staff the facility with three family practice physicians. The clinic will include 24 patient exam rooms, a laboratory for on-site testing, two procedure rooms and X-ray services.

Mayor Gary Lorenz said the fast growing town of Ankeny has seen a lot of groundbreakings which is a good thing because that means people are investing in Ankeny and the only thing better than that is a reinvestment in Ankeny.

“What I really appreciate is when a company makes a reinvestment in a community,” Lorenz said.

Lorenz, David H. Vellinga President & CEO Mercy Medical Center, Marty Barkley, of Simonson & Associates Architects, and State Rep. Peter Cownie of JSP Properties spoke at the groundbreaking Thursday.
