
A man who took a lead role in designing the NE 36th Street, I-35 interchange in Ankeny has been appointed as the City's new director of Public Works.
Mark Mueller, Group Coordinator and Project Director for HR Green, Inc., in Johnston, will take over July 15 for Paul Moritz, who was promoted to assistant city manager in March. Mueller was the project manager and lead engineer in the NE 36th Interchange design, according to a release from the city.
As the head of the public works department, Mueller will oversea a department with 30 employees and a $6 million operating budget.
Mueller is a licensed professional engineer with more than 16 years of engineering experience. He received a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.Â
