Trail Point Aquatics & Wellness Celebrates Completion With Ribbon Cutting Oct. 10

ANKENY, IA. -- Celebrate the completion of Ankeny's newest fitness facility when the Ankeny Area Chamber of Commerce holds a ribbon cutting event Oct. 10 at Trail Point Aquatics & Wellness. The $18 million facility is located on the DMACC campus.

Most of the wellness center has been open to members, but the track was only completed last week. Trail Point is a 9,000-square-foot, two-story facility open to members from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekdays, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays, and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays.

According to its website, Trail Point features include:

• 8-lane competition swimming pool
• Zero-entry family pool with extra swim lanes
• Therapy pool (Operated by UnityPoint Health)
• Two group fitness rooms and one cycling studio
• State-of-the-art exercise Machines
• Strength training equipment
• Three racquetball courts
• An elevated track (10th of a mile)
• Two full-sized basketball courts
• Child care services

Trail Point’s competition swimming pool, complete with a diving well, will be home to the Ankeny schools' swim teams under an agreement reached in February 2016 between DMACC and the Ankeny school district. School teams will have exclusive use of the pool and deck during their seasons. The school district contributed $2 million toward the pool cost and will pay $50,000 annually for improvements and maintenance, while also sharing equipment costs.
