UPS Stores in Davenport and Bettendorf permanently close (qconline.com) — If you rely on The UPS Store in Davenport for shipping, printing, or mailbox services, that location has permanently closed within the past week, along with the Bettendorf store on Devils Glen Road. Signs on the Bettendorf storefront now direct customers to an East Moline UPS Store instead, meaning Quad-Cities residents may need to adjust their regular errand routes.

2. Eldridge man charged after allegedly threatening children with crossbow (wqad.com) — Davenport police arrested a 64-year-old Eldridge man after he allegedly pointed a loaded crossbow at three children on South Nevada Avenue, according to a criminal complaint. Officers say the children had asked for candy, then ran when he returned with the weapon; he’s now jailed in Scott County on four felony charges.
   

3. Bettendorf firefighters respond to structure fire at Hy-Vee on Devils Glen Road (wqad.com) — A minor electrical fire at the Devils Glen Road Hy-Vee in Bettendorf brought out local crews Tuesday night, with assistance initially dispatched from the Davenport Fire Department before being canceled. Firefighters quickly isolated a smoldering light fixture, ventilated the store, and allowed operations to resume, with damage estimated at just $1,000 and no ongoing impact to shoppers.
   

4. Pleasant Valley couple arrested; accused of Walmart thefts (ourquadcities.com) — Davenport police say a Pleasant Valley couple was repeatedly caught on video underpaying at the West Kimberly Road and Elmore Avenue Walmarts, leading to more than $1,500 in alleged losses. Both are now in Scott County Jail on felony theft and ongoing criminal activity charges, with court dates and bond conditions set as the cases move forward.
   

5. Santa spotted at MercyOne Genesis wishing newborns a merry first Christmas (ourquadcities.com) — Families welcoming newborns at MercyOne Genesis got a festive surprise as Santa arrived on a Davenport Fire Department truck, continuing a two-decade tradition with local firefighters. With no sick children to visit this year, Santa and Davenport Fire focused on bringing gifts, baby clothes, and encouragement to parents celebrating their babies’ first Christmas in the Quad Cities.
