City of Dubuque Seeks Input on Draft Parks and Recreation Master Plan (dubuqueinpursuitnews.com) — Dubuque residents are being asked to weigh in on a new long-term Parks and Recreation Comprehensive Plan that will guide city priorities for the next decade. A draft plan and executive summary are online now, and community feedback is requested by Jan. 5, 2026, before the proposal heads to the City Council.
   

2. Dubuque's Grand Harbor Resort Finds Buyer at Auction (wdbqam.com) — Dubuque’s Grand Harbor Resort and Waterpark has been sold at auction to South Dakota-based Riddle’s Group for $7,500,001, ending years of financial uncertainty. The new owner plans to secure a hotel franchise, renovate rooms and water features, and keep the property operating while preparing for a refreshed grand reopening over the next few years.
   

3. Fuel Spill Contained at Dubuque Regional Airport (dubuqueinpursuitnews.com) — Emergency crews contained a 400-gallon aviation fuel spill Wednesday at Dubuque Regional Airport, with no injuries or hazardous conditions detected. Firefighters evacuated nearby buildings, set up a safety zone, and used absorbent materials to recover the fuel, which was safely managed on-site while the cause remains under investigation.
   

4. Man receives 15-year sentence for Dubuque shooting (kcrg.com) — A 20-year-old from Sherrill has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for his role in a May shooting in Dubuque that left a man seriously injured but alive. Court records detail how four people confronted the victim near 20th and Jackson before the shooter retrieved a gun and fired.
   

5. ACLU raises Iowa alarm on license plate reader privacy issues (kwwl.com) — Automatic license plate readers are drawing new privacy concerns in Iowa, and Dubuque County’s sheriff is defending how his office uses them. Sheriff Joe Kennedy says the cameras are limited to investigations, while the ACLU warns that inconsistent statewide rules and opaque data practices could still put residents’ driving histories at risk.
