Chicago Man Convicted of Conspiracy to Distribute Cocaine in Iowa City, Selling Kilos to Police

Perrie Ellis Green, 27, of Chicago, was convicted of conspiracy to distribute cocaine in the Iowa City and Cedar Rapids areas after unknowingly selling multiple kilograms of his product to police back in the spring of 2011.

Green plead guilty and was just sentenced to nine years in prison for conspiracy to distribute cocaine and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking, according to a Friday news release from U.S. Attorney Nicholas A. Klinefeldt of the Southern District of Iowa.

According to police documents, he sold more than 30 kilograms of cocaine. After an additional court sanctioned search, police seized more cocaine, a loaded nine millimeter Ruger handgun, digital scales, and drug packaging. 

A United States District Judge also ordered five years of supervised release after his prison sentence is through.

The case was completed by multiple law enforcement agencies in the area, including the Iowa City Police Department and the United States Drug Enforcement Administration.
