State Historical Society, UI reach deal over state historical collections (kcrg.com) — Public access to Iowa’s state historical collections in Iowa City is set to resume under a new agreement between the State Historical Society and the University of Iowa. Starting Jan. 1, 2026, residents can request documents and images through UI Libraries, with materials available weekdays in the Special Collections Reading Room after a lawsuit challenged the earlier closure.
   

2. Takeaways from Iowa City West boys basketball's win over City High (press-citizen.com) — Iowa City hoops fans just saw West edge City High 53-51 in a tense road rivalry, powered by junior guard Corey Davis’ fearless 15-point performance. With a new coach and revamped roster, West extended its winning streak over City High, while the Little Hawks nearly completed a big second-half comeback before a late turnover sealed the result.
   

3. Drive down a virtual I-80 with a new Iowa trucking simulator (littlevillagemag.com) — A new Iowa expansion for American Truck Simulator now lets players virtually haul cargo in and out of Iowa City, complete with a Menards-like store and a quirky Star Trek barn along Highway 218. Developed by a Czech-based team after on-the-ground research trips, the DLC highlights familiar corridors like I-80 and I-380 while packing in Iowa-themed landmarks and Easter eggs.
   

4. Governor names Meredith's Steve Lacy, Republican Peter Cownie to Iowa Board of Regents (thegazette.com) — Iowa City readers will see new leadership shaping the University of Iowa and the state’s other public universities, as Gov. Kim Reynolds appoints Steve Lacy and former lawmaker Peter Cownie to the Iowa Board of Regents. The picks rebalance the board’s party and gender makeup and elevate a key adviser to UI’s new Center for Intellectual Freedom, which reports directly to the regents.
