City Of Iowa City: Bruce Teague Again Named Mayor; Megan Alter Appointed Mayor Pro Tem
In Iowa City, the Mayor and Mayor Pro-Tem are determined by the City Council, those terms will continue until January 2, 2024.

At the first meeting of the new City Council, Bruce Teague was again voted Mayor by his fellow councilors, while newly elected councilor Megan Alter was chosen as Mayor Pro Tem.

The votes took place at a special formal meeting of City Council at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022. Both votes for Teague as Mayor and Alter for Mayor Pro Tem were unanimous.
Teague was first elected to Council during a special election in 2018 and was voted Mayor by Council in 2020. Alter was elected to the council in November 2021. Both Teauge and Alter were sworn in as councilors at separate ceremonies on Dec. 15, 2021.
