Iowa City Police Investigate Hit and Run

A 20-year-old man was injured at the intersection of Wayne Avenue and Arthur Street around noon on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, February 26th, at approximately 12:18 PM, Iowa City Police responded to the intersection of Wayne Avenue and Arthur Street for a report of a pedestrian hit by a car. Upon arrival officers learned that a passer-by had come upon an injured 20 year old male in the intersection who said he had been hit by a car. The victim, who declined medical treatment, reported that as he was crossing the street he was hit by a maroon, newer model passenger car which was being operated by a younger white male. The driver of the vehicle did not stop after hitting the pedestrian and is, as yet, unidentified.

Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000.00 for information leading to the arrest of the suspect. Anyone with information about this crime is urged to contact CrimeStoppers at 358-TIPS (8477). All calls are held in strict confidence and anonymity is guaranteed. Individuals providing information do not have to reveal their identity to collect a reward.
