Iowa City Police: Sisters Beat Up Female Victim at Dolphin Lake Apartment

Two sisters teamed up to assault a woman at the apartment complex on Saturday night.

An Iowa City woman was charged with assault after she allegedly helped her sister beat up another woman at the Dolphin Lake apartment complex on Saturday night.

According to an Iowa City Police criminal complaint, on Saturday night at 11:03 p.m., Iowa City Police responded to Dolphin Lake, 2401 Highway 6E, for the report of an assault. After searching the area, police say they found five women walking together at the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Miami Drive.

The victim of the assault told police that Kitty Monique Hood, 23, of Iowa City had allegedly pinned her to the ground while her sister, Jalisa Kay Gray, 20, hit the woman in the face. Hood was among the women stopped by police, according to an Iowa City Police criminal complaint.

The victim of the assault told police that Gray had attacked her because she used to talk to the father of her child. Gray had allegedly approached the woman and declared "What you wanna do?" before attacking her and throwing her to the ground. Gray had called Hood ahead of time saying she was going to fight the woman, according to the complaint.

The woman suffered abrasions to her face and arms, scrapes on her elbow and fingers, and a lump on her head from the assault.

Both Gray and Hood were charged and released from the Johnson County Jail on Sunday. Both were charged with assault causing bodily injury, a serious misdemeanor, and Hood was also charged with a count of trespass.
