Labor Day Schedule Announced For City Of Iowa City

City of Iowa City administrative offices and other facilities will be closed on September 6 in observance of the Labor Day holiday.

City of Iowa City administrative offices and other facilities will be closed Monday, Sept. 6, 2021, in observance of the Labor Day holiday.

Please note that trash, yard waste, and recycling will be collected on Labor Day. See details below.

Airport: The administration office will be closed, but Jet Air (FBO) will be open regular hours.

Animal Care and Adoption Center: Closed.

Landfill and Recycling Center: Closed.

Library and Bookmobile: Closed.

Parking: City parking ramps will not be cashiered and parking meters will not be enforced.

Parks and Recreation: Administrative offices will be closed on Labor Day.

  • Holiday pool hours are:
    • City Park Pool:
      • 6:15-11:30 a.m. lap swim
      • 1:30 a.m.-6 p.m. open swim
    • Mercer Park Aquatic Center Pool โ€“ closed
    • Robert A. Lee Recreation Center Pool โ€“ closed
  • Recreation Center hours:
    • Robert A. Lee Recreation Center: 6:15 a.m. to 9 p.m.
    • Mercer Park Aquatic Center & Scanlon Gym: 6:15 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Police: Administration and Records offices will be closed. Patrol will operate normally.

Solid Waste: Refuse, recycling, and yard waste will be collected on Labor Day. Residents on the Monday route should have their materials at the curb by 7 a.m.

Senior Center: Closed.

Transit: No bus service.

Water: Closed. For a water emergency, call the 24-hour emergency number at 319-356-5166.
