Micah Hyde Only Hawkeye Drafted in NFL Draft 2013, Vandenberg, Davis, Tobin Sign Free Agent Deals
The Iowa Hawkeyes predictably had a poor NFL Draft showing this year, with Hyde going to the Packers in the fifth round.

It was a poor draft by Iowa Hawkeye standards over the last decade, but for fans of both the Green Bay Packers and the Iowa Hawkeyes the news was good.
Micah Hyde, a solid four-year cornerback and playmaker for the University of Iowa football team, was selected with the 159th pick of the NFL Draft in the fifth round by the Green Bay Packers.

With the first of two fifth-round picks, the Packers selected Iowa CB Micah Hyde on Saturday. Hyde, listed at 6-1, 197, was the 159th overall selection in the draft.
A first-team All-Big Ten pick last season by both the league’s coaches and media, Hyde started 38 games over his final three seasons and recorded eight interceptions. He also forced four fumbles and recovered three in his career. The three recoveries were all last season, and he returned one for a touchdown. He returned two INTs for TDs as a sophomore in 2010, with returns of 72 and 66 yards.

Hyde was the only Hawkeye selected in this year's draft, a low number compared to previous drafts that have featured several Hawkeyes in the high rounds, including several number one draft picks. All of Iowa's 2008 starting defense was drafted or invited to NFL camps.
Undrafted NFL hopeful Hawkeyes James Vanderberg, Keenan Davis, and James Ferentz will have to wait and see if they get invites to NFL camps following the draft.
Update 7:41 p.m.
It looks like Micah Hyde may have a chance to intercept a James Vandenberg pass some day, as Vandenberg just signed a free-agent deal with the Minnesota Vikings.
Update 10:24 p.m.
Scott Dochterman of the Gazette has an update of the draft situation and has Keenan Davis heading to Cleveland and Matt Tobin to the Philadelphia Eagles, both with free agent deals.
