Mary Beth McTaggart and Lillianne Brown participated in the World Food Prize ย Iowa Youth Institute held at Iowa State University on Monday, April 29th. ย The two City High Sophomores presented their individual research and overall recommendation to solve global problems. ย Over 300 high school students and teachers across the state gathered for the event. ย The students participated in round-table discussions with a panel of experts and immersion sessions focusing on global challenges and world hunger. ย Governor Terry Branstad, Lieutenant Governor Kim Reynolds, and World Food Prize President Ambassador Kenneth M. Quinn were several of the keynote speakers throughout the event.

The World Food Prize Youth Institute was established in part by Norman E. Borlaug, an Iowa native, who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for a lifetime of work to feed a hungry world.
