Police: Iowa City Man Accused of Threatening Woman with Large Hunting Knife


An Iowa City man was charged with a felony after he allegedly threw items at a woman's residence and threatened her with a large knife.

According to an Iowa City Police complaint, on June 7 at 12:08 a.m. police were called to an apartment at 2401 Highway 6 E for the complaint of a manย threateningย someone with a knife. When officers arrived, they interviewed the parties at the scene.

A woman the aforementioned apartment told officers that someone had been throwing items at her residence when she came outside to investigate. Once outside she was confronted byย Elisha A. Secrest, 19, of Iowa City, who allegedly then pulled out a large hunting knife and threatened her, including threatening to stab her with the knife, according to the complaint.

In an interview with officers, Secrest allegedly admitted to there being an argument and that he had brandished the knife.ย He was charged with going armed with intent, a Class D felony and booked into the Johnson County Jail where he remains on $10,000 bail.
