Police Issue Update On Ped Mall Shooting In City Of Iowa City
The person has been identified as Andre Roberts Jr., 19, of Cedar Rapids.

Iowa City Police have identified the individual who fired several shots from a handgun in the Ped Mall on July 25, 2021. The person has been identified as Andre Roberts Jr., 19, of Cedar Rapids. He has been charged with the following offenses:

- Attempted Murder
- Person Ineligible to Carry Dangerous Weapons
- Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon
- Use of a Dangerous Weapon in the Commission of a Crime
A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
The incident remains under investigation as police continue to work on identifying others involved. The Iowa City Police Department would like to thank the community for responding with information that assisted in identifying this individual.
