Police: Woman Awoke with Stranger Next to Bed, Frightened Him Off with Scream

On July 3rd, at approximately 3:15am, Iowa City Police responded to 302 S. Gilbert St. reference a report of an apartment burglary in progress.

Responding officers entered and secured the apartment, but the suspect had already fled the scene. Upon speaking with the two female residents, officers learned that one of the women awoke to find a man in her bedroom, standing next to her bed. The victim began to scream and kick at the suspect who then ran from the room. 

The suspect, described only as a male, black, approximately 5'8" tall, apparently entered and exited the second floor apartment through a locked balcony door.
