New Rival to Molly's Cupcakes Coming to Coralville

The popular Cedar Falls Scratch Cupcakery has rapidly expanded from its single Main Street location, with three stores across the state and a fourth coming soon to Coralville.


Scratch Cupcakery, the Cedar Falls bakery that has seen its popularity explode since it first opened in a tiny downtown storefront in June 2010, has announced it will expand yet again with a fourth location.

In a Facebook post, the store has announced plans to open a Coralville location this summer at the Iowa River Landing development.

The news was apparently popular with fans, with the post quickly garnering over 1,000 likes and over 200 shares.

Coralville will be the latest in a series of expansions. The bakery recently opened a West Des Moines location, less than a year after its Waterloo store took off.

The store said on Facebook it would hold a hiring fair for the new location in May, with hopes for a mid-June opening.

Cupcake joints have been spreading all over the country and Iowa is no exception. Recently an Iowa City branch of Molly's Cupcakes has opened up, and has been performing well at its downtown location.
