Senior Center Celebrates 40 Years And September 2021 Programs Announced In Iowa City

This month the Senior Center will celebrate 40 years of serving older adults in the Iowa City area.

The Iowa City Senior Center has released its September 2021 program calendar, and it includes both virtual and in-person classes and events for the upcoming month. Registration for September programs at the Senior Center will open on Wednesday, August 25 at 8:00 a.m. People can register online by going to www.icgov.org/senior/registration, calling 319-356-5220, or stopping in during business hours (Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.).

This month the Senior Center will celebrate 40 years of serving older adults in the Iowa City area. The community is invited to celebrate the Senior Centerโ€™s 40th โ€œbirthdayโ€ with a party in the park on Thursday, September 2, 2021. The event will be held at Chauncey Swan Park, 405 E. Washington Street in Iowa City, and include cupcakes and an ice cream truck beginning at 6:00 p.m. An outdoor screening of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982) will begin at dusk, shortly after 7:30 p.m. All are welcome to take part in this free eventโ€”bring your favorite lawn chair or picnic blanket! This event is presented in partnership with FilmScene and Iowa City Parks & Recreation.
