University of Iowa Student Arrested for Stabbing was Found in Girlfriend's Dorm on Western Illinois Campus
A few more pertinent details were released in the criminal complaints of Gabriel Badding, who now is in custody at the Johnson County Jail.

The University of Iowa student accused of stabbing two men over the weekend in downtown Iowa City was booked into the Johnson County Jail yesterday after being arrested in Macomb, Ill. on Sunday.
According to a police, on Sunday at roughly 4:30 p.m. Gabriel E. Badding, 18, was taken into custody in Macomb, Ill. by Western Illinois University Police on an arrest warrant issued by the Iowa City Police.
Details in the police criminal complaints indicate that Badding was found by university police in his girlfriend's dorm at Western Illinois University after receiving several tips tying him to the crime. The WIU police also found "evidence relevent to the investigation" in Badding's vehicle according to the criminal complaint.

A Gabriel Badding is listed as being a student at the University of Iowa in the student directory, with a home address in Oak Park, Ill.
At 1:57 a.m. on Sunday officers located two men who had been stabbed in an altercation near the intersection of Dubuque and Washington Streets. The two stabbing victims were taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for treatment.

According to a police complaint, the stabbing was preceded by a verbal dispute between Badding and one of the men, when Badding suddenly lunged forward and began stabbing the man.
Police say one victim received several stab wounds to the torso area, two of which were near vital organs, and the second victim received a deep stab wound in the upper arm when he attempted to intervene and help the first victim. None of the injuries suffered by either man appear to be life threatening at this time, according to the police.

Police say that the Hawk Alert issued by the University of Iowa after the initial incident generated several calls to Iowa City Police indicating that Badding may have been involved. The suspect in the stabbing indicated in the Hawk Alert was described as a short Asian male wearing a red USA jersey.
Further investigation by police made them more certain of the likelihood of Badding's involvement, and they also became aware of his potential location in Macomb.
Iowa City Police investigators contacted the Western Illinois University Police who located Badding's vehicle parked on campus. Upon further investigation, the WIU Police located Badding and took him into custody.
Badding is charged with Willful Injury-Causing Serious Injury, a Class C Felony; and Willful Injury, a Class D Felony, according to the release. Was being held in a county jail in McDonough County, Ill. He now has in the Johnson County Jail on a $100,000 bond and is awaiting extradition to Iowa City.
