• Grassley, Ernst Back GOP HSA plan as ACA subsidy extension fails in Senate (thegazette.com) — Marion residents may want to note that Rep. Ashley Hinson, a Republican from Marion now running for U.S. Senate, is backing a GOP plan to expand Health Savings Accounts instead of extending enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies. Iowa Sens. Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst supported the same approach, while Democrats and policy analysts warn it could mean higher premiums and weaker coverage for many Iowans when current subsidies expire.
