• Waterloo shelters need help to spread holiday cheer to unhoused (kwwl.com) — Waterloo’s Salvation Army emergency shelters are asking residents to help make Christmas brighter for 39 unhoused adults staying there. They’re seeking full-size hygiene products and small comfort gifts like fishing poles, purses, speakers, and warm clothing, which can be dropped off at their Franklin Street location during business hours or by arranging an after-hours delivery.
   

• UnityPoint Health names Waterloo executive as new Chief Operating Officer (kcrg.com) — A Waterloo-based UnityPoint Health leader is moving into a major systemwide role, as Market President Jenni Friedly becomes Chief Operating Officer for all UnityPoint markets. She previously studied at Allen College in Waterloo, and an interim president will now oversee the Waterloo region while a permanent replacement is sought, keeping local operations and care delivery on track.
   

• Mark Lorain Waterman- Strawberry Point (kmch.com) — Waterloo is noted as the place where 66-year-old Strawberry Point resident Mark Lorain Waterman passed away at Allen Memorial Hospital on December 12. His obituary honors his decades of work at Henderson Products, love of car shows and hobby farming, and deep devotion to his wife, children, grandchildren, and extended family, with services to be held at a later date.
