Cheese Sold At Several Grocery Stores Recalled Over Listeria Concerns
Cheeses sold in several states are being recalled after the Food and Drug Administration found Listeria monocytogenes in a routine sampling.
KANSAS — Paris Brothers, Inc., a Kansas City-based company, is recalling several cheese products over Listeria concerns, the company recently announced.
The recalled cheeses were produced between May 4 and May 6 and were shipped in containers bearing lot codes of 05042022, 05052022 or 05062022, though retail stores may have relabeled individual packages sold to consumers.
In a routine sampling of the products, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration found Listeria monocytogenes, the bacteria that causes Listeria infection. No illnesses connected to the recalled cheeses have been reported.

A Listeria infection can be serious and sometimes fatal in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy individuals typically suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, but the infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
