• St. Olaf Band to tour the Midwest and South (stolaf.edu) — A nationally known college band is bringing its 2026 tour to Blue Valley Southwest High School in Overland Park on Saturday, January 31, offering a low-cost concert that’s free for students. The St. Olaf Band’s “American Graffiti” program features contemporary works and a major new piece exploring the Black experience, with performances also scheduled across several Midwestern and Southern states.

• Travis Kelce apologizes to Chiefs superfan Paul Rudd for season, but actor grateful (kansascity.com) — Actor and longtime Chiefs fan Paul Rudd, who grew up in Overland Park, shared a lighthearted but heartfelt chat with Travis Kelce on the “New Heights” podcast after the team’s rough season. Rudd talked about treasured Super Bowl memories with his son, concern for Patrick Mahomes’ injury recovery, and his upcoming film “Anaconda” with Jack Black, keeping the focus on gratitude over frustration.
   

• Madalein Odell (johnsoncountypost.com) — Overland Park residents are mourning the passing of 92-year-old Madalein Odell, a longtime resident, Master Gardener, and active member of the Overland Park and Johnson County Historical Societies. She broke ground as a pioneering female cost estimator, ran Gardens by Design for decades, and will be honored at a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.
