“Bring The Bosins Home” Exhibit Opens At Indian Museum In Wichita

The Mid-America All Indian Museum (MAAIM) is excited to debut “Bring the Bosins Home,” a new exhibit featuring the works of Blackbear Bosin.

The opening celebration of the exhibit will be held from 1-3 p.m. on June 5 at MAAIM, 650 N. Seneca. The exhibition opening will include a birthday celebration for Blackbear Bosin, who would have been 100 years old on June 5, 2021. Festivities will kick off with an exhibition of Bosin’s artwork and artifacts from his life, as well as hands-on activities and crafts for kids. ­­­­­­­­

Blackbear Bosin, an internationally recognized Kiowa-Comanche artist and the creator of the iconic Keeper of the Plains, was one of the founders of MAAIM. The museum is home to the largest public collection of his artwork. In 2019, the Indian Museum introduced the Bosin Society, a group dedicated to conserving and preserving the art and legacy of Blackbear Bosin for future generations.

“Bring the Bosins Home” will give visitors a better understanding of Blackbear Bosin’s artwork and the way he sought to share his culture with Wichita and the world.

Admission is $5 for adults, kids 12 and under are free. MAAIM members are always free.
