Fall Gardening Series Returns To Evergreen Library In City Of Wichita

The five-program series will teach participants tips for preparing lawns and gardens in the fall for a bright and fruitful spring.

The Wichita Public Library and K-State Research and Extension – Sedgwick County are partnering for the fall gardening series at the Evergreen Branch Library. The five-program series will teach participants tips for preparing lawns and gardens in the fall for a bright and fruitful spring, among other topics.

The series will begin Thursday, July 30, with "Planting in Fall for Spring Color;" followed by "Monarch Butterfly: the Rock Star of the Insect World" on Thursday, Aug. 6; "Gardening with Native Plants" on Thursday, Aug. 13; "Understanding Our Climate to Become Better Gardeners" on Thursday, Aug. 20; and "Fall Lawn Care: Tips for Growing the Best Lawn on the Block" on Thursday, Aug. 27.

All programs will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Evergreen Branch Library, 2601 N. Arkansas.

The Library will implement several safety protocols for staff and customers, including:

  • Participation capacity will be limited. (Registration will be required and is available now at
    wichitalibrary.org/gardening or by calling (316) 303-8181.
  • Face masks will be required for staff and customers.
  • Six feet social distancing guidelines will be followed.
