On September 3, 2021, at approximately 0200 hours, a 41-year-old male inmate was found unresponsive in Pod 1 of the Sedgwick County Detention Facility. Detention Staff and Medical Staff completed cardiopulmonary resuscitation, until emergency medical services (E.M.S.) arrived within approximately ten minutes.

The inmate was treated by E.M.S. until approximately 0243 hours, at which time he was pronounced deceased. Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Investigations and the Kansas Bureau of Investigations (K.B.I.) were contacted. Sheriff Investigations processed the scene.
