Wichita Arts Council To Host May Day Sculpture WalkAbout

This project advances the cultural awareness of the arts in our community, as well as enhances the aesthetics in Wichita.

The Arts Council invites the public to CityArts, 334 N Mead, from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday, May 1 to celebrate the 2020-21 Sculpture Walkabout. Many of the sculpture artists will be on hand for questions and brochures will be available, showing the locations of the 15 sculptures.

Visitors are encouraged to take selfies with the artwork and share them on their social media platforms with hashtags #ICTart and #MayDaySWA for the chance to win prizes.

Council Member Cindy Claycomb, an Arts Council Ex-Officio Board Member, will present the Award of Excellence to one of the sculptors.

The outdoor Sculpture WalkAbout exhibit is an annual event hosted by the Arts Council and the City of Wichita as an opportunity for regional sculptors to display their work.

This project advances the cultural awareness of the arts in our community, as well as enhances the aesthetics in Wichita.

Entries are currently open for the 13th Annual Sculpture WalkAbout, to be on display from July 1, 2021-July 31, 2022. For more information or to apply, please visit
