• Man pleads guilty to threatening elected official (wkyt.com) — A man who admitted threatening to injure and kill Pike County Judge-Executive Ray Jones on social media will be sentenced in federal court in Ashland on March 16, 2026. Local residents should know this case could bring up to five years in prison and will draw attention to security around public officials and the Ashland courthouse.
   

• Johnson man's child porn trial delayed (mountain-topmedia.com) — A federal child-exploitation case from Johnson County will now move more slowly through the Ashland courthouse, after a judge agreed to delay the defendant’s January 12 trial so his attorney can fully review sensitive evidence. A status hearing is now set for that date instead, and the judge has given the defendant until January 9 to reach a plea deal or proceed toward trial.
   

• Maynard sentenced to more than 17 years for producing child porn (mountain-topmedia.com) — A federal judge in Ashland has sentenced a Pike County man to 17.5 years in prison for producing child pornography involving a minor who sent him a nude video via Snapchat. Prosecutors sought a longer term, but the judge rejected an added enhancement, and the man will still face 10 years of supervision after release.
