‱ Benton to Host Annual Christmas Celebration with 'Christmas Across the Decades' Theme (marshallcountydaily.com) — Downtown Benton will turn into a festive “Christmas Across the Decades” celebration this Saturday, Dec. 13, with activities starting at 3 p.m. and a parade at 5:30 p.m. Families can enjoy Santa photos, carriage rides, hot chocolate, kids’ crafts, and more at Court Square, local shops, churches, and city buildings as the community gathers to celebrate the season together.
   

‱ Pirate's Cove murder case set for trial next year (wpsdlocal6.com) — A high-profile murder case tied to a January 2024 death in Benton now has a firm trial date set for November 2026, after earlier delays and added charges. The defendant faces multiple serious counts, including murder, drug trafficking, and unlawful imprisonment, and will return to Benton’s court system for a final pretrial hearing in October 2026.
   

‱ Helen Elizabeth (Beth) King, 74 (marshallcountydaily.com) — Benton is mourning the passing of 74-year-old Helen Elizabeth “Beth” King, who grew up in town and graduated from Benton High School in 1969. A longtime night-shift nurse at Murray Hospital, she was known for her love of the lake, gardening, and her many beloved dogs; per her wishes, there will be no services.
