• Water Main Break Closes Lane in Benton; Highway Repairs Planned for Marshall County (marshallcountydaily.com) — Drivers in Benton should be prepared for a lane closure on East 14th Street at Birch Street due to an ongoing water main break, with no clear end time yet. In addition, KY 1949 in Marshall County will be closed Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for cross drain repairs, so plan alternate routes if you travel that way. 
• Blue Christmas Service Offers Comfort to Those Struggling During Holiday Season (marshallcountydaily.com) — A special Blue Christmas service in Benton will offer a quiet, reflective space for anyone struggling with grief, loss, or loneliness this holiday season on Sunday, Dec. 21 at 6 p.m. Held at the Life Celebration Center of Filbeck and Cann on Poplar Street, the contemplative gathering features soft music, readings, and a welcoming, nontraditional setting open to all.
• Shapes of America: A radio special about shape-note singing (lpm.org) — A new radio special on shape-note singing highlights how this centuries-old musical tradition is thriving today, including at an annual gathering in Benton. Produced by Louisville Public Media, the hour-long program traces the music’s history, its role in Appalachian culture, and its growing, diverse community of singers across the region and beyond.
