Here are the top three stories today in Bowling Green:
- A Bowling Green High School freshman placed 5th in The Kentucky High School 102nd Annual State Speech Tournament on Mar. 10 and 11. The tournament was held at Northern Kentucky University, and high schools from across the state competed in nine speech events. - With opening day just over three weeks away, The Bowling Green Hot Rods held their annual Fan Fest at the Bowling Green Ballpark. This event gave fans the chance to pick up season ticket packages, sample new concession items, and purchase the newest merchandise from the Hot Rods team store. Despite being one of the smaller teams in the minor leagues, the Hot Rods welcome over 200,000 fans in the stadium each year and were the South Atlantic League Organization of the Year for their league in 2o22, according to General Manager Kyle Wolz. (WBKO)
- 66 Warren Elementary students received free soccer gear and coaching at SKY Soccer Club thanks to a partnership with Get On the Bus. According to Administrative Director Keiliah Prater, many students do not get the chance to play soccer due to the pay-to-play model. This partnership will allow the students eight weeks of coaching and mentorship in addition to free cleats, jerseys, shin guards, and soccer balls. (WBKO)
