• City may offer employees paid volunteer time (state-journal.com) — Frankfort city leaders are considering a new benefit that would give full-time municipal employees eight hours of paid volunteer time each year, usable only within Franklin County. The proposal aims to boost service to local nonprofits, schools, and charities while avoiding staffing conflicts, and would function like vacation requests through the city’s existing time-off system.
   

• Representative Chris Lewis proposes robotics trust fund for STEM (wbko.com) — State lawmakers meeting in Frankfort are weighing a proposal to create a robotics trust fund that would help Kentucky high schools expand hands-on STEM and advanced manufacturing programs. Rep. Chris Lewis of Louisville wants grants to support robotics teams, connect classroom learning with local industry, and prepare students for modern workforce demands. The plan still faces further review by the Interim Joint Committee on Education.
   

• Nominations sought for Kentucky School for the Deaf Advisory Board (kentuckyteacher.org) — From Frankfort, state education officials are inviting self-nominations for a Kentucky School for the Deaf Advisory Board seat representing the Kentucky Association of the Deaf, with applications due by 4 p.m. Dec. 23. The board, mostly composed of Deaf or Hard of Hearing members, advises school leadership and the education commissioner on how the Danville-based school operates statewide.
