Criminal mischief report filed in Lexington after car hit with shovel on Christmas (fox56news.com) — Lexington police are investigating a Christmas morning incident where a woman’s car was damaged with a shovel near East Sixth Street and North Martin Luther King Boulevard. Officers filed a criminal mischief report and are asking anyone with information to contact LPD or submit anonymous tips through Bluegrass Crime Stoppers.

2. 2 puppies abandoned outside Lexington animal shelter (fox56news.com) — Two puppies were found abandoned without food, water, or shelter outside Lexington-Fayette Animal Care & Control early Christmas morning, and staff say this kind of cruelty is illegal and unnecessary because officers are on duty 24/7. Officials are asking anyone who recognizes the two people seen leaving the puppies to contact the shelter’s cruelty investigator in Lexington.

Lexington Humane Society introduces ‘handsome' rooster (fox56news.com) — Lexington animal lovers can now meet Roopert, a confident, “too-cute” rooster newly introduced by the Lexington Humane Society. He’s available at the Malcomb Campus, where visitors can see him strutting the yard and decide if he’s the right fit for their farm or backyard flock.

EKU partners with Lexington police to test drone detection technology (wkyt.com) — Lexington police are partnering with Eastern Kentucky University to test new drone detection technology that can identify unauthorized aircraft and their registered owners during investigations. EKU students are helping evaluate a portable “drone tag” system that could expand the department’s growing drone program, improving searches for suspects and missing people while keeping costs manageable for local law enforcement.

Fayette Mall bustles with post-Christmas shoppers returning gifts and hunting deals (lex18.com) — Fayette Mall is packed again as Lexington shoppers flood in to return gifts, swap sizes, and hunt for steep post-Christmas discounts. From half-off holiday décor to big Bath & Body Works sales, many residents are using gift cards and tight return windows to finish their holiday shopping business.

What your neighbors are talking about on social media
- We lost our dog earlier today, His vision is impaired, and has several health issues as he is very old.
The weird thing is, Someone found him, posted him on NextDoor, and then someone claiming to be his owner picked him up. this is really strange to me… (Nextdoor Squires) - Merry Christmas!
While walking my dogs this morning, the only folks we saw in person (not in cars…) were 3 other senior citizens. We greeted each other with smiles… (Nextdoor Hollywood - Mt. Vernon)
