Permits: December 10, 2025 (owensborotimes.com) — New building permits from the Owensboro Metropolitan Planning Commission show a wave of local construction, including a planned Publix grocery store on Carter Road and multiple new homes and renovations. Residents can expect fresh retail options, infrastructure upgrades, and residential growth across several Owensboro neighborhoods and nearby highways.
   

2. Owensboro free bus rides return during 12 Days of Christmas (tristatehomepage.com) — Owensboro residents can ride all city bus routes and the downtown trolley for free now through December 22 as part of Owensboro Transit System’s 12 Days of Christmas. City officials say nearly 14,000 people used the program last year and expect strong turnout again, with regular fares returning afterward but new discounts on daily and monthly passes coming soon.
   

3. Kentucky hospitals named among nation's best for maternity care (spectrumnews1.com) — Owensboro Health Regional Hospital has been named a high-performing maternity hospital and one of only two “maternity access hospitals” in Kentucky, signaling strong quality care for local parents. U.S. News and World Report’s new rankings highlight low complication and C‑section rates, giving Owensboro families more confidence and data when choosing where to deliver their babies.
   

4. DCSO: Man caught dealing drugs at motel, alleged customer also arrested (14news.com) — Two people were arrested after deputies say they observed a suspected drug deal in the parking lot of an Owensboro motel on W. 2nd Street. Investigators report finding synthetic marijuana, meth, and paraphernalia, and both suspects were booked into the Daviess County Jail on trafficking and possession charges.
   

5. Faithfluence to bring event to Owensboro (tristatehomepage.com) — A national faith movement called Faithfluence is bringing a large worship and inspiration event to Owensboro on May 2 at Venue 1010, running from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Organizers say it will gather believers, creators, influencers, and families to explore faith’s role in today’s culture and encourage locals to stand boldly for what they believe.
