Alexandria City Council erupts into heated redistricting battle as veto override fails (kalb.com) — Alexandria residents will continue voting under the 2024 council district maps after the City Council fell one vote short of overriding Mayor Jacques Roy’s veto of a return to the 2022 lines. A tense December 16 meeting featured sharp exchanges among council members, parish officials, and residents over representation, public input, and the city’s population decline, signaling more debate ahead over how Alexandria is politically divided.
   

3. Remembering Scott Lee McWilliams (vernonparishjournal.com) — Family and friends are remembering 59-year-old Scott Lee McWilliams, who passed away December 12 in Alexandria. Services will be held Thursday morning at The Church House with burial at Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, honoring his military service and the full life he shared with loved ones across Cenla.

LSU System President Dr. Wade Rousse makes first official campus visit to LSUA (cenlanow.com) — Louisiana State University of Alexandria just hosted LSU System President Dr. Wade Rousse for his first official visit to a regional campus, highlighting LSUA’s growing profile. During the stop in Alexandria, Rousse met with campus leaders and students as they showcased record enrollment, new facilities, and LSUA’s role in serving rural and first-generation students across central Louisiana.
