Baton Rouge fire captain on leave after DWI arrest in Livingston Parish (louisianafirstnews.com) — A Baton Rouge Fire Department captain has been placed on administrative leave after being arrested on suspicion of DWI in Livingston Parish, following reports of erratic driving. The department says an internal investigation is underway, while the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office reports the captain was stopped on U.S. 190, failed field sobriety tests, and later bonded out.

Woman accused of driving on wrong side of road while intoxicated on Christmas morning (mysuncoast.com) — Baton Rouge police say a woman was arrested after allegedly speeding away from officers on Government Street early Christmas morning and driving on the wrong side of the road. The pursuit reportedly continued across the river before she was taken into custody, then brought back and booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on multiple charges related to impaired driving and fleeing.
   

3. Family's annual Christmas tradition gains new meaning after family member beats cancer (wbrz.com) — A Baton Rouge grandfather has revived his 20-year Christmas tradition of taking his growing group of grandkids to Louie’s Cafe, now with extra meaning. After 16-year-old granddaughter Scarlett Phillips completed months of cancer treatment at local hospitals and rang the bell in October, the family gathered again for breakfast, celebrating her recovery and their strengthened bonds.
