Demonstrators say Hispanic residents are being unfairly targeted and want parish leaders to speak out about Border Patrol and ICE activity near schools, job sites, and neighborhoods across Jefferson Parish.

New Orleans culture bearers may be forced out of Musicians' Village after property sale (nola.com) — Metairie-based landlords now own dozens of former Habitat rental units in New Orleans’ Musicians’ Village and are tripling rents starting January, forcing many culture bearers to consider leaving. Another Metairie landlord is also moving to evict a historic 7th Ward bar, raising fresh worries about gentrification and the loss of Black cultural spaces across the city.
