Black Market Frozen Turkeys Could Make You Sick, Police Warn

Falmouth resident should be careful to avoid dodgy turkey.

FALMOUTH, ME — Black market butterballs? Police in Maine are warning that they may pose a real danger to residents this year.

Falmouth police say a Hannaford supermarket threw out some frozen turkeys that thawed out because of a mechanical failure. Now, police believe, some nefarious blackmarket huckster is trying to pass them off as safe to consume — and selling them to unwitting buyers — after collecting them from a trash bin.
