Maine Woman Who Sexually Assaulted 8-Year-Old Gets 5 Years In Prison

The 37-year-old Sabattus woman will also spend 10 years on probation after she was convicted of gross sexual assault in January.

PARIS, ME — A Maine woman was sentenced to five years in prison this week after she was convicted of sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl, according to a report.

Bethany Ringuette, 37, was sentenced to 10 years of probation after being found guilty of gross sexual assault in January, CBS 5 reported. She most also register as a sex offender.

Ringuette's boyfriend, Travis Walker, was sentenced last year to 13 years in prison with six years suspended.

According to previous reports, the assaults happened between February and May 2019 at an apartment in Rumford. According to the Lewiston Sun Journal, the victim told police that Walker showed her explicit videos on his cellphone before assaulting her. She told police Walker assaulted her more than once.

Ringuette, identified in the police report as Walker’s girlfriend, was present during one of the assaults and recorded it on her cellphone, the Sun Journal reported.
