3 Shootings In 90 Minutes Mark Memorial Day In Portland: Police
During one of the shootings, a group of men in an SUV fired projectiles at a woman who was walking her dog, police said.
PORTLAND, ME — Portland police are investigating a series of Memorial Day shootings that happened within 90 minutes of each other and left one person injured, according to authorities.
The first shooting happened just before 5:45 p.m. Monday. Police were called to an area near Park Avenue and Forest Street to investigate. At the same time, police said a 19-year-old man walked into a local emergency room for treatment of a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
Police later learned the man was shot by occupants of a black SUV that drove by the area as he and his friends were filming a rap music video. Wells police later found the SUV and, after a chase, arrested two juvenile males and two adult males.

The woman described the vehicle's occupants as younger, light-skinned Black males. Police said the men may be connected to two other shootings where weapons that fired gel projectiles were used. In one of those shootings, police said the projectiles were frozen, which made them extremely dangerous and capable of causing serious injury.
The final shooting happened just after 7 p.m. when police received a report of a gunshot heard inside an apartment building at 47 Brackett St. Responding officers determined a shot was fired and arrested 26-year-old Kerry Bell for negligently discharging a firearm inside of his apartment, police said.
