Homebuyers face $1,000 increase if they drop low mortgage rate (newsnationnow.com) — Portland is among the big U.S. markets where homeowners would face some of the steepest jumps in monthly payments if they gave up their low pandemic-era mortgage rates, according to Realtor.com. The report says this “lock‑in effect” is keeping many owners from selling, tightening inventory and reshaping housing markets nationwide with typical payments now around $1,300 a month.
